In today’s society, obesity is a huge uprising problem. Children are less active than their parents were when they were their age, and parents seem to be aging a lot faster due to the lack of energy they have. Whatever happened to the days of fathers and sons playing football in the backyard or mothers and daughters taking long walks? There is not just one answer to this question. Fast-food, videogames, and computers along with many other forms of technology are all reasons why people are becoming fatter and fatter.

Growing up in Antigua herself, Kincaid is very familiar with the foreign
culture. She is also familiar with the hardships felt when crossing into
another country. Lucy, her novel, was about a girl that was born in Antigua.
With this information, the reader questions whether or not Lucy is completely
fictional. Come to find out, Kincaid wrote Lucy’s personally almost parallel to
hers. One example is about how Lucy hates daffodils. The exact same thing
happened to Kincaid. When Antigua was under British rule, they were forced to

Wordsworth’s Lucy Gray poem stands out a little in my mind. It’s the only poem that gives the audience a sense of awareness of her character. In other poems, she is more like a mysterious hooded figure. Lucy is given a last name and a family. The poem is based on a tragedy, like the usual, which involves Lucy dying. This poem was really easy to read and follow, and it was easy to dissect to further understand her character. This poem provided immense amount of imagery with little effort. It actually takes the reader back into the past.

First of all, Night and Fog was extremely hard to watch. I can’t help but watch in disgust and sympathy for anyone who knew someone that attended any of these concentration camps. In class, we only watched a few scenes but it was still upsetting. I saw the complete documentary online which made me feel even worse. Night and Fog is a completely depressing film that was made in 1955, and used a lot of clips from Triumph of the Will. The clips all contained Hitler giving speeches to a mass of people.

This film is actually very offensive to me. I cannot imagine what it was like for other people who were mentioned in this documentary. Borat is a very unrealistic documentary because the differences in culture are stretched and overemphasize. One example is the reference to Jews throughout the whole movie. The people from Borat’s country believe that they are evil, shape shifters and that they are born with horns. I feel like this is very unbelievable to anyone and it is just there to make the movie a little funnier and to make the cultural difference seem even greater.

Jamaica is known for their beautiful tropical climate. It is a tourist hot spot; basically all months of the year. When coming to the islands, the tourists want to see a change in scenery and in culture. They are sick of the same old routine. They need to experience something different from their own. They get a sort of cabin fever with their current surroundings. The pri-tourist may feel like their only escape from their claustrophobic feelings is to flee to another country.

Life and Debt is a documentary on life in Jamaica. It is mentioned in the documentary that to tourist, Jamaica is an exotic vacation getaway. There are many aspects I can take for this documentary. Some being the way other countries treat Jamaica, the disorder of their government, or I could even talk about the families that live there in poverty and how they think of tourists. This film gives many opportunities for the viewer to experience many different problems with Jamaica at the same time.

Initial feeling about supersize me where very simple and any average person would have had the same thoughts too. It’s crazy that he is actually going through with this. Can he actually hold out and finish out the experiment? Some other initial thoughts were, this guy is crazy!

One could say that the cameraman Timothy Treadwell is the star of the documentary Grizzly Man, but the real star is the bears themselves. Even though Treadwell is the only human showed in the documentary, besides two scenes that show a glimpse of his girlfriend at the time, the animals and wildlife itself is considered what is most important to him. It’s the wildlife he was protecting and he would want the wildlife to come first.

Al Gore’s documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, raised many questions in my head. Al Gore claims in the documentary that due to the warming of the earth’s temperature, many of the ice caps are melting. He also states that the amount of fossil fuels and carbon dioxide people throw into the atmosphere are causing the earth’s temperatures to rise. Unlike Al Gore, I believe that cannot be prevented by man, but it is a natural occurrence that cannot be stopped.
