Weekly Blog #11
Posted April 27th, 2008 by nkmerkleThis summer I plan to work for Masterbrand Cabinets in the information technology department. I hope that my internship at Masterbrand will be along the lines of network engineering because that is what I am studying at Purdue. Other than that, I am going to be living at home and enjoying bike rides that I will be taking on my new bike. In addition, next fall I will be attending Purdue for my final year and hopefully graduating in the spring of 2009. I want to conclude by saying thank you my classmates and Mrs. Black for a wonderful semester and wish you all the best of luck.

Also, we have assigned different tasks to specific individuals. In the next week, we plan to finish the booklet and shoot some videos for the website. Currently, we do not have any questions or concerns about the project. So far, we have not encountered and complications.
Border Gateway Protocol Extened Definition
Posted April 7th, 2008 by nkmerkleBGP (Border Gateway Protocol) is a protocol for exchanging routing information between gateway hosts (each with its own router) in a network of autonomous systems. BGP is often the protocol used between gateway hosts on the Internet. The routing table contains a list of known routers, the addresses they can reach, and a cost metric associated with the path to each router so that the best available route is chosen.

Posted March 31st, 2008 by nkmerkleMy most memorable group experience was the of COM 320. The class was based on small group communication. The final project for this class was a service project that helped local area families winterize their homes. It was a good experience and exposed many team dynamics. The main thing that made the group work well was that it was organized. What I mean by this is that the team had a good leader and made sure that all the objectives were met on time and that the overall goal became a success.
Final Project Idea
Posted March 23rd, 2008 by nkmerkleSome ideas for project four may include creating an advertisement package for a new company the is in Purdue’s research park, a user guide for how to deploy active directory or another directory computer service, or make an online manual on how to make a website.

Posted February 17th, 2008 by nkmerkleBefore I start to write, I usually need a good topic to write. In addition, the topic needs to be interesting to me so that I do not get bored with the subject right away. After I have my topic, the next thing that I do is brainstorm my ideas into some type of outline. This outline is not always written down in proper format. Sometimes, I just do a mental snapshot of what I want the writing to be like and draw from that.
