As for my Experience...

I went to a small, Christian, Classical, private school in Indy where we had Rhetoric classes. In these classes we learned about persuasion and wrote a lot of persuasive essays. We did some expository writing, but persuasion can be tough to master, so we wrote a lot. We would have to write an essay in an hour or so and usually this killed me. I really liked my teacher and dreaded disappointing him, but that pressure would destroy my chances at writing really well. I usually need to write and then to some extent start over for my next draft. Senior year we had a Thesis class where we wrote a 10 or so page paper and did a presentation of a thesis. I started over with new formats several times. I like writing though I don't do it very much. I really enjoyed the activity we did in class yesterday, it was refreshing just to be able to write. I write in a journal almost every night, but it is never eloquent, just pouring out my heart. I've always wished I could write with eloquence and wit about normal, daily experiences in order to share them in a fun way and in such a way identify with others.

I totally understand what

I totally understand what you are saying about writing a journal entry with wit. Sometimes, I'll want to post on my Facebook journal, but after writing something I either feel like no one would find it interesting or entertaining or I've poured out all my feels and the passion (usually anger or irritation) is suddenly gone. Kudos on the dedication on writing every night. I've started like 4 diaries promising I'd write something every day. It's awesome you have the discipline to actually do it.

I really like looking back

I really like looking back at what I've written, sometimes it is hysterical! My journal chronicles a lot of the main events in my life and it is also a prayer journal. During senior year and this past semester I haven't written as much because I usually write at night and I would be up late and then really just want to go to bed without writing. But I feel the lack at times. I really think that when I journal and read my Bible regularly I am much closer to God. So actually I am needing some more self-control to make sure I continue with frequency. Smiling

I know what you mean about

I know what you mean about restarting after your first draft. I had to write a papers in school then take them home and edit them. I usually kept very little of the original.
