to friday's presenters

In response to Friday’s presentations…

Melanie: I thought your topic was very interesting. It would not be something I would chose to do, but it is great that you are so open to learning and understanding more about a subculture that is pretty misunderstood. Obviously without reading the fictional story it would be difficult to advise you on it but your reasoning for presenting your project in this way all makes sense. I was impressed with your knowledge of your topic. Last night I was watching Larry King Live and thought of you because he was talking with the mothers from the Texas polygamy ranch—I am not sure exactly how I feel on that particular issue but I can say that I was pleased to be watching that with some knowledge of polygamists thanks to your timely presentation. Smiling

Emily: I thought your topic was also very interesting. Being in the peace corps is something not many people know about, including myself, so it was great to get a little insight into what their lives are like from your presentation. Also, I think you are making a very wise choice in presenting your project in a diary/scrapbook form. Although it requires much creativity I am sure you will be able to do it—and the fact that your personal interests lie in the area in which you are researching certainly will make this task much easier. Again, your presentation was very good and I wish you luck completing your project! Smiling

Harini: Your topic too, was interesting. I really liked how you put an emphasis on the three-generation shift in the roles of these women. The source that accompanied this shift was used well also, in my opinion. It was obvious that you put a lot of time into this project, which is great, but I felt like some parts of your presentation were a little confusing—perhaps making the slides a little more clear and concise would help. It is hard to give you straight feedback when I don’t have your powerpoint in front of me but maybe this helps a little! Overall, you did a very good job though. Smiling

Review for presentations

Melanie: I liked your presentation a lot. I won't lie, when I first heard about it I was very skeptical about it, but it seems to have turned out very well. I think you did a very good job in finding out what life is like for these people, and I wish you luck on your project!

Emily: I liked the peace corps scrapbook a lot as well. I think it was a perfect way to describe that type of life, and I think that you did a very good job of designing the scrapbook. I liked the pictures of the background in different countries, and the pictures of actual people residing in your project. I think you are on the right track, and once again good luck on the rest of your project.

Harini: I thought your topic was very interesting. I had no knowledge of your topic before-hand, and I think that you did a very good job in informing us of what your topic and what the people are about. I think that it is also interesting because I think it is a totallly different way of life, and it is always interesting to see different ways of life to me. Once again, good luck with your project!
You all did a fantastic job, and I hope that you all have a great end of the year.
Joey
