Classes

Next semester i'm going to be kind of taking an easy course load. I'll only be taking 12 credit hours, which is going to be really nice. As of right now I will be taking a music appreciation class, MGMT200, Business computer class and MA223. I think most of them should be fairly easy to deal with, except math 223. Not gonna lie, math is definately not in my top list for favorite classes. I've heard that MGMT200 is also a really tough class (it's intro to accounting). i've seen some of the problems you have to work with and honestly I think it looks kind of interesting. It's almost weird how I despise most math classes but when you give me accounting stuff or real life problems I actually enjoy it. I took a personal finance class in High school and it was probably my most enjoyable class. I'm not big on theory math or just equations that are meaningless. But, when you give me word problems or math that pertains to real life I enjoy it a lot more. I think that when you are able to see the reason for doing a math problem, or have a defined purpose it has a lot more value and interest. I hope that this carries over and helps me with my major - Business Management. I was a little nervous getting into this major because I was told that a lot of math would be involved, as well as accounting. But if it is the type of math that has a clear purpose and reason for doing, I think I'm going to be alright. Anyone else feel this way about math? That equations suck but word problems and accounting math is actually kind of enjoyable?

I have a very similar

I have a very similar feeling about math. I find math much more enjoyable when it is related to reality. I find it interesting when it's related to physics or other sciences. That's a big part of why I'm in engineering. I also think it's interesting when it's applied to economics.

Math

I never really cared much for math, for the exact reasons that you stated. There were no applications to the real world. I took an Advanced Algebra Accel.class in High School, and that was by far the WORST class I have ever taken. We spent so much time on imaginary numbers, and I have never used them after that class. I did very well in Pre-Calc, and I enjoyed calc however. I placed out of 161 and took 224 my 1st semester here. I find calculus very interesting, and surprisingly it has a lot of real world applications, and from what I have seen, especially in Chem. And I have not used imaginary numbers in Calc, which is nice to say the least.
