My major

So I think I will use one of the blog prompts and tell you all about my major.
My major here at Purdue is Speech Pathology, which is speech therapy. I am in the College of Liberal Arts--Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. Speech therapy deals with young kids who are having trouble acquiring language skills and also for anyone who has had a traumatic brain injury or stroke that has affected certain areas of the brain that control language processes.
I got into this field I guess because I like languages. I've taken Latin, but don't remember a whole lot, I've had three years and a semester of Greek that I do remember and love, and now I'm taking Spanish here at Purdue. Originally, I was thinking about Occupational Therapy, but took a real, hardcore, carreer test and the first job on the list was Speech Pathologist. So I said, what the hey, I'll try it.
I'm not very involved in my major yet and I'm thinking I should be, and get more excited about it. I am excited to a point; I want to work with little kids, because that way I am hopefully helping them for the rest of their lives and improving life for them. But that's not because I don't want to work with older people, I just figured I'd work with children. My dream job, however, is to have a family (get married, have kids, maybe 3 or 4, at most 5) and live on a ranch or farm in the country somewhere (having married a country boy). I want to have horses and cows and chickens and homeschool my kids for a while. I want to get away from cities where everyone is always so busy and life is about money and stress. I want to live in wide open spaces and rid my life of as much unnecessary technology and stress and distractions as possible. Sure, that won't totally be possible and I have no idea what God wants for my life, but that's what I'm hoping for and where I am now.
