Someday will come.

Some of the blog topics of last week got me thinking about my future. Call me awful, and it probably is, but I live for the future. Every assignment I turn in, decision I make is for the betterment of my future.
I am a genetic biology/ pre-medical major while minoring in German. I've always been fascinated by genetics. I was born with a cleft palate which is a genetic disorder that my dad, my cousin, my grandmother and so on has. I think that's what really got me thinking about genetic biology as my specialization.
I am also pre-medical, which as a Purdue bio major means nothing because we all qualify for pre-med requisites. I was always fascinated by the "doctor shows" on discovery health and TLC. I loved the "baby" shows. I find the subject very interesting from conception, development, and overall women's health issues. I would like to specialize to become an OBGYN if I get into medical school.
I am a German minor because it is easy. Seriously, my third year, second semester German course is a piece of cake and then some. We're relearning grammar I learned as a sophomore in high school under a VERY weak German program. I only have something like 3-4 classes before I get my minor- not too bad. Besides, I would LOVE to live in Germany as I did for a summer in 2006.
I think the future matters a little more now than it did in high school. My high school did not prepare me at all for a major in science. Instead, it focused on topics such as history and English which will get me no where as a science major. Nothing I did in high school really factors into what I can do here. Maybe thats why I get so excited thinking about my possibilities now. They seem so much more real than they did in high school.
