I believe that laughter is the best form of medicine.
I chose my topic solely due to the fact that personally I've had some rough experiences in my life that I really didn't know how to cope with. I've found that laughter is the best cure for any ailment. There have been countless studies on the benefits of laughing. For example there was a woman who was afraid of mice. She was put through tests where she had to look at mice for a prolonged period of time. The doctors administered this form of therapy until the woman was able to literally laugh at a mouse whenever she saw one, thus curing her. As I previously mentioned I've had some experiences in my life where the best way to just cope/forget/deal, whatever you want to think was to just laugh it off. I've done badly on a test that I knew was going to effect my GPA, there was nothing I could do. I just laughed at the score and relized that I need to try like hell to do a lot better on the next text. I'm sure there are many people who have had a similar experience. I found when I was trying to write my draft that I wanted to get a certain message across. I wrote down all the things I really wanted to convey, then made a list of the most important to the least important. This, I found, was the best way for me to organize my thoughts so that they would become more fluid as I was telling my belief. If anyone has any similar experiences where you just needed to laugh something off, please feel free to write about it and tell me. I will probably cite it in my paper.

I've always loved that quote, and I try to remember it every time there's a situation which I have no control over, like in your example with the test. There was nothing you could do to change the grade, so you had the choice to either cry or laugh about it. You might not have necessarily done either one, but the point is that you could have felt sorry for yourself, but instead you began striving again.
Interestingly enough, I thought of this quote the day after Kurt Vonnegut died. I was understandably depressed because the world had just become much less awesome, but I started laughing when I thought of the quote. As big of a cliche as it might be, the man would not have wanted people crying about him, he would have wanted laughter. The best way to deal with his death (and any death, I believe) is to remember and reflect on his work. Just laugh and move on.

laughter is definitely the best medicine. whenever I'm upset or stressed I always for some reason react with a laughing fit and it helps, at least until I have a chance to calm down and sort things out.
A funny exercise!
I love to laugh. If you look in my iPod, I have over a 100 tracks worth of comedians from Dane Cook to Stephen Lynch. Within a few months, I have seen both Jim Gaffigan and Dane Cook do their performances. I love laughing until it hurts. Not only does laughing feel fantastic for the soul, it does the body good. It's a proven calorie burner. All around, being able to laugh is a fantastic way to reduce stress and to work out your ab muscles!

comedy is definitely something to appreciate. I love laughing at good comedy, especially satire; I personally am obsessed with Scrubs. It makes me feel good after having a good laugh at something.
