Monday and Wednesday Presentation
Wed, 04/23/2008 - 15:29 — amoretAllison, your project was really interesting. I never really thought about being in a long distance relationship before, I just thought it would be too hard, especially in college. I liked how you talked about all the different ways that people try to make it work though, definately cool and innovative.
Andrea, you had a really interesting topic. The only thing is that sometimes you could clarify on the topic more specifics on the illness and what you are trying to learn about it.
Response To Projects
Sun, 04/20/2008 - 19:09 — amoretHey, to all who did projects on Friday, nice job! I thought you all presented really well, and I learned something new from all of you. I hope that when I do my project presentation I'm able to convey what I've learned as well as all of you.
Melanie your project was definately an interesting one. I'm curious to know, why of the many possible topics for this project you decided on this one? I thought it was really interesting that the whole idea polyamoury (sp?)is much more of a psychological condition rather than and individuals choice.
Seasons
Sun, 04/06/2008 - 16:15 — amoretThis weather is awesome! Sunny, not too warm not too cold its perfect. I think the sunshine is a lot more important that people realize. If you think about it, when do you feel at your lowest? For me it's always in the winter when it's cold out, rainy/snowy or just grey. It just kind of puts you in a depressed mood. Free time sometimes makes it worse in the winter too, because you don't know what to do with yourself.
Classes
Sun, 03/30/2008 - 14:28 — amoretNext semester i'm going to be kind of taking an easy course load. I'll only be taking 12 credit hours, which is going to be really nice. As of right now I will be taking a music appreciation class, MGMT200, Business computer class and MA223. I think most of them should be fairly easy to deal with, except math 223. Not gonna lie, math is definately not in my top list for favorite classes. I've heard that MGMT200 is also a really tough class (it's intro to accounting). i've seen some of the problems you have to work with and honestly I think it looks kind of interesting.
in the spirit of our new project....
Fri, 03/21/2008 - 18:22 — amoretLooking at the Goya plates has started me thinking - is war necessary?
Austen's Blog
Mon, 02/25/2008 - 00:02 — amoretWriting these blogs is becoming tougher for me. Once I get going, it isn't so bad, but starting isn't all that easy. I don't know why, but I always have trouble breaking the barrier of what to write about. I think I prefer to be prompted in the case of the blogs, it makes life a lot easier. Maybe thats the point though...
thoughts on the film
Sun, 02/17/2008 - 19:42 — amoretPersonally I thought the movie was pretty well done and definately interesting. I liked how it showed the huge contrast between the amish way of life and english life outside an amish community. I was sort of surprised at first to see how hardcore some of the amish kids would party or how deep they would get into drugs and alcohol. Then I thought about it a little bit, and it wasn't so surprising. If you think about it, a lot of times denying a person something or putting them in a situation where they aren't able to do something they want to backfires big time.
Documentary Film
Sun, 02/03/2008 - 21:02 — amoretI'm not big on watching fact filled movies...they just get kind of boring to me. I love movies though, most genre's excluding horror movies. I don't see the point in watching slasher/killing movies, just not my thing. I like thrillers though. Most of all I really enjoy deep thinking movies, one's that stir up a lot of thought on the world and how things are, or complicated plots with twists (as long as they make sense). I think the best part about film is the opportunity it gives people to escape.
Everything does NOT happen for a reason
Fri, 01/25/2008 - 17:12 — amoretI know that this is simply my opinion, and as I write this I hope no one takes offense because I don't mean to undermine anyone else’s ideas or beliefs. What I want to talk about is the notion of everything happening for a reason. Of any ideas I hear about - especially religious ideas, this one makes me the most frustrated. The idea that our lives are predetermined and that events even bad ones occur for a purpose is ridiculous to me. Can you honestly 100% say that you feel the holocaust happened for a reason?
