Reading Response #11

I think Project 3 will prove to be a very interesting and useful project for all of us enrolled in this class. I agree that both projects 1 and 2 were important and effective in preparing us for our futures in the business world, but I think this project is by far the most important. It gives us a hands-on experience working with an actual business with actual clients. I think we will all put more time and effort into this project simply because it will actually effect others rather than just our grades. I think it will be very interesting working face to face with such an organization; it will no doubt be a learning experience. I think professionalism will play a big part in this project, as we all will need to step up and not only sound professional in our writing but appear professional through meetings and the actual work of the project. We will all need to step it up and really stay focused and punctual to prove ourselves to our client. I didn’t really understand how the Faber article applied to this project, just as our instructor expected. I guess the part about writing differently for different audiences and different purposes could be applied to us as our emails and memos will be written slightly different from everyday emails we might send to our friends or family members. The article also spoke briefly of not-for-profit organizations; that would definitely be applicable here as we are all working with different not-for-profit organizations for this project. I found the textbook slightly interesting with its guide to reading and writing different types of email. Those pages will be useful throughout the project while we are emailing one another, the client, and our instructor. The pages on planning writing projects should also be helpful as we continue to work on this project and have to prepare more and more documents. I am slightly nervous to see how this project turns out. I am excited to meet with our client and find out exactly what we will be doing.

i agree

I agree with you. Faber was an interesting read, but I think it was not as related to our project as I hoped for. Also, the reading required from the textbook was very useful. The memo example looks like a boilerplate and will make it very easy to write the correct and professional looking memo for our professor and client. I also liked the closing statements and the part about proper formal emails. It really taught me a lot that I wish I could have learned earlier. I am kind of sad to have a new group since our old group worked so well together, but I am sure I’ll get along with my new
