In regards to Job Ad 1, I think the most important aspects of the job are having those technical skills and being able to interact with customers. The ad mentions that applicants need to have experience with .NET, SOA, C, C++, C#, Oracle, SQL, UNIX, and/or MS Visual Studio. While I have no idea what these are, I am sure they would be used on a regular basis at this particular job. Being able to work well with customers is also a huge advantage because it is one thing to be able to do/fix something yourself; it is quite another to be able to effectively explain it to somebody else. I think the hardest criteria to meet would be being able to work under extremely stressful conditions. While somebody may be able to do the job at hand, it is a much different story when the pressure is on and there are time constraints. It seems as though they are looking for people who work well, or even better, under stress because time will definitely be an issue. This sounds like an extremely technical, fast-paced job, however computer science majors are trained to work in this type of environment on these programs. As long as rileyfrey enjoys working and analyzing computer systems, this job would be a great fit. With technology being where it is today and it continuing to advance, we will be needing people just like rileyfrey to work with these systems. The technology is a great industry to get involved with so I think rileyfrey found a fitting job.

“FORMULATES AND DEFINES SYSTEMS SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES USING INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE/REQUIREMENTS.” This sounds like a very broad and important requirement. Defining scope and objective requires much more than programming skills. “RESEARCHES, IDENTIFIES AND DEVELOPS SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS.” I understand what the job ad author was thinking here, but this requirement doesn’t seem very specific, haha. “DEFINE, TEST, AND IMPLEMENT BUSINESS SYSTEMS.” This is important because it implies vertical responsibility. System architechure, testing, and implementation could involve very different work. “ABILITY TO DEVELOP BUSINESS PROPOSALS.” This means you’ll have to have good presentation and persuasion skills. This job has a VERY wide range of requirements. It looks great if you’re up for a challenge.
