Work Experience:
1. What work experiences have I had?
a. Systems Analyst at Witham Health Services in Lebanon, Indiana. My manager is Glenn Davis and I have worked there since March 2007. The job requirements were for someone who had healthcare / IT knowledge, can support clinical and business applications, and who can evaluate the business’s needs and develop solutions for those needs.
b. Business Analyst / Network Engineer with Alverno Information Services at the Lafayette hospitals. I had many managers while working there with Janelle being my last manager. My job requirements included project management, system administrator for different applications, install servers, and troubleshoot issues. I worked there from September 1998 – December 2006.
c. Cross Country and Track Coach at Lafayette Central Catholic High School. I report to the athletic director, Tim Bordenet. I have been coaching there since August 2000. Some of my responsibilities are to develop and conduct practices for athletes, help kids improve on individual technique, work with administration on budget and season schedule, interview and hire assistant coaches, and hold meetings with parents and other athletic personnel.
2. I have been a volunteer coach at McCallister Center in Lafayette, Indiana. I coached little kids between the ages of 4 – 6 in basketball and t-ball. I worked with these young kids to develop basic skills and knowledge of the sports. It was a great joy to see these kids learn something new and the excitement they got as their skills improved.
3. I first started my adult career with and internship at St. Elizabeth Medical Center beginning in Sept of 1998. I was a computer technician that provided customer support for the computers and network. It was a lot of busy work but did provide a good starting point of learning the healthcare / IT environment.
4. During my time at Purdue there have been several courses that taught me some valuable skills. My computer science course provided the hands on computer experience that I use in my career and improved my computer programming knowledge. Some of my upper-level management classes taught me the project management and business analyst skills that are so important in job field.
5. When I first started at Purdue I did receive some academic scholarships and grants.
6. Some of my best skills are my ability to think of innovative solutions and to manage multiple tasks. A talent of mine is being able to explain things to people in a way that they understand. Even if I have to explain the same thing to different people, I am able to describe the topic to them in a way that is best of each individual person. These skills and talents help me in my career because I can solve problems with unique ideas when otherwise the problems may remain unresolved. It also helps me work with both technical and non-technical people to bring everyone working towards the same goals.
7. I do speak German as a second language. I work well with a wide variety of people which is a benefit in my career.
8. I have extensive computer skills because the majority of my work the past 10 years has been in the computer technology field. I know how to repair computers, setup servers, design web pages, and do software programming. The software programs that I know are, Microsoft Office, SQL, Microsoft Access, Exchange, Citrix, and a variety of hospital software applications.
9. I have expertise in working with computer and server hardware, scanners, printers, and networking equipment.
