Project Log- Week 15: Rough Draft
Posted April 20th, 2008 by bt1423This week our group met three times in person. We met on Monday night to divide up what we were each going to do for the newsletter. Since we had not heard back from the Crisis Center, we decided there was not much we could do until we at least got information from the Center. Tom, Jenna, and I went to the Crisis Center Tuesday morning while Hilina had class. Jane was not in but we were able to pick up an old newsletter and some brochures. We split up what to have done by a meeting we set up at 8 on tuesday night. Everyone sent me their articles and I formatted them.
Project Log for Week 14: Communication Difficulty
Posted April 13th, 2008 by bt1423We met twice this week, both times online, to discuss our project and assign what needed to be completed by today. We met Monday online at 8 pm and Thursday at 4 pm. We were hoping to meet in person and really get to work on our project, but Jane from the Crisis Center never got back to us. This makes it very hard to get anything accomplished, so hopefully she will get back to us soon. We decided to have Hilina complete the proposal and Tom, Jenna, and I completed the three memos.
Reading Response - Ch. 24 & 25
Posted April 7th, 2008 by bt1423We have not yet heard what exactly the Lafayette Crisis Center wants our newsletter to look like, so it is hard to say what tips from the reading we will use. I did learn several things however that will help us when planning the layout of our newsletter. Images are very important and the textbook says they can be used as their own information. Since we will be making a newsletter for a crisis center, I think we will be able to use images to touch people in a way deeper than words would be able to. Hopefully the overall look of the bulletin will attract the reader.
Reading Response - Project 3
Posted April 6th, 2008 by bt1423Project three should be interesting and I think it will be more fun than the last project because we are doing something that will actually make a difference. I am looking forward to creating a community newsletter for the Lafayette Crisis Center for several reasons. I think it will be better than just writing an actual paper because we will be able to format it however we want. We also get the chance to show our teacher that even though we are all only young college students, we can be very professional in writing and communicating in the business world.
Project Log - Week 13
Posted April 6th, 2008 by bt1423We have just begun our project and have not gotten very far yet because we were not able to schedule a meeting anytime during last week. We met online earlier this week and decided on a group name. We went with Helping Hands because we will be writing a newsletter for a crisis center. We decided that Tom will be our liaison and will be in charge of contacting the crisis center. We have been emailing and hopefully we will be able to chat online again early this week. Everyone has been very prompt on email responses, so hopefully that is a good sign for this project!
Project Log for Week 12: Final Draft
Posted March 26th, 2008 by bt1423Paul should be submitting our paper soon and the minute that is done we are officially finished with this white paper!
Project Log for Week 11: Rough Draft
Posted March 21st, 2008 by bt1423Our group met in person Tuesday night this week at 8. Although we were all very busy we were all able to make it. We discussed how we were going to put the paper together and what we needed to do before the final draft is due next Wednesday. Ryan had a nice outline put together of what the final draft of the white paper needs to include. No one asked him to do that, so it was very nice that he had something down to discuss with us and make things faster. We all sent our drafts to Erin to compile by Thursday. She also is formatting the paper so that it comes together nicely.
Project Log for Week 9: Sources and More Meetings
Posted March 7th, 2008 by bt1423We are all continuing to research, email and set up meeting times, but our group still has a lot to do. We originally planned on meeting this past Sunday night, but we ended up canceling the meeting because we didn’t think it was necessary yet. However after we all searched and found eight sources, we decided to meet again in person to make sure everything was running smoothly, and to keep us all on track. Meeting in person is definitely the most effective way to communicate.
