Project Log for Week 16: Final Draft due
Posted April 24th, 2008 by orbital02This week has been a busy one. We submitted our draft last week to Jane for approval and didn't hear back from her until Wednesday. During that time, we emailed Julie numerous times voicing our concerns about not being able to finish on time. We were allowed an extension until Monday at the latest to turn in our final PP to Jane. While we all had input on what to change about our project the person to actually make the changes was Erin. I will be turning the project in either tomorrow or Monday depending on when Erin sends the PP to me. It has been interesting and fun.
Project Log for Week 15: Revise Project
Posted April 17th, 2008 by orbital02This week is about revising our PP. Again, we decided to split up the work. Jon is doing the client memo while I am doing the memo to Julie. Sara revised part of the PP while the rest of us gave our input on what looks good and what doesn't. So far Jane, our client, seems to be pleased with our efforts on this project. We did have some difficulties with the PP being too big. We decided on sending Julie and Jane a PDF file instead so they could see it since the PP wouldn't send via email. I will hand in the final copy of the finished PP next week to Jane in person.
Project Log for Week 14: Project 3 Moving along
Posted April 13th, 2008 by orbital02This week our group had a lot of work to do. We met at the union around 3pm on Tuesday. Sara, Erin, Jon, and Myself were there. We discussed what we knew so far and what we needed to do for this week and the remainder of the project. We split up the work as follows for this week: Erin was in charge of the proposal, I am in charge of the client and instructor memos, and Jon is in charge of the research memo. We will send everything to Sara since she is the contact person for our client. I did have a meeting with our client, Jane, on Wednesday for about 30 minutes.
Reading Response Ch. 24 & 25
Posted April 13th, 2008 by orbital02Images are all around us and we can use them to our advantage or not. It all depends on the situation, context and our own knowledge of using them effectively. The readings in the book describe the different types of images, their functions, and how they are produced. Not only is this information important, but the manner in which we demonstrate these images to the world greatly affect what our overall goal can achieve to its audience. The readings also tell us why we should use different types of images for specific situations and how it sets the tone for event, article, report, etc.
Project Log for Week 13: Project 3
Posted April 3rd, 2008 by orbital02This week marked the starting of a new project. Our group was assigned early in the week as well as our project criteria. The organization we will be working for is Lafayette Crisis Center. Our contact's name is Jane McCann. During the course of the week, we sent a couple emails to Jane as well as each other. Our ultimate goal for this project is to revise a power point slide show for Jane's company. I have been researching possible ideas on the type and format of slide shows similar to our goal. My group members have been doing the same.
Reading Response Project 3
Posted April 3rd, 2008 by orbital02For Project 3, I was assigned a new group and so far we are all a little slow to get on the same page. Our non-for-profit organization is Lafayette Crisis Center. Our contact through this organization is Executive Director Jane McCann. We have already been in contact with her and are awaiting further instructions on our assignment. Currently, our project focus is to revise and modify a power point presentation for her organization. They wish to have a more visually pleasing slide show for the many conferences and events they attend.
Project Log for Week 12: Final Draft
Posted March 26th, 2008 by orbital02This is the final few hours before our final draft is due. We split up the work for the first draft and now we are discussing who wants to do what for the final draft. So far, It looks like Kendra will be editing for grammar and spelling. I'm not sure about who will shorten up the paper yet. We haven't had any group meetings this week. We only communicated through email. I had a great time with my group throughout this project and I hope they did too.
Project log for week 11: Draft of white paper
Posted March 21st, 2008 by orbital02This week everyone had a part in drafting our white paper, which is due today. I wrote the part on Mobile Messaging. It was about 1200 words. Kendra wrote the part on Email. I believe hers was the same amount as well. Hilina wrote the executive summary and intro. After everyone had finished their parts, we all sent them to Kristen and she wrote the conclusion. She also organized, proofread, and added our bibliography to the end. Since we split the work up like we did, Kristen did have to make sure our parts flowed together. We didn't have any meetings this week.
Project Log for Week 9: Gather Sources
Posted March 7th, 2008 by orbital02This week was all about sourcing. We each found and posted 8 sources for our portion of the white paper. Hilina and Kendra took the part with the emailing while Kristen and I took the mobile messaging part. I contributed 8 sources to the efforts of this project. Everyone else did the same. So far, we are working well as a team. We communicated over email this week in order to ensure each of us were staying on track with the project requirements.
