Project Log for Week 16: Project 3 Final Stages - edavey
Posted April 24th, 2008 by edaveyAs we finish Project 3, we are wrapping up the revised Power Point for the Lafayette Crisis Center. Our contact person, Jane, also wants us to adjust the original Power Point for a younger audience, so our group is deciding how to split up the tasks. Since this request was asked of us so late, we are thinking we may need more time to complete the project. We have mainly been communicating through email, which has worked out well. However, I have been having trouble with my Purdue Webmail, so I have called Sara to get updates earlier this week.
Project Log for Week 15: Project 3 Rough Draft - edavey
Posted April 20th, 2008 by edaveyThis week my group and I designated tasks to make sure all of our assignments got done by the end of the week. Sara took care of the Power Point revisions, Mike and Jon split up the weekly memos, and I communicated with Jane and Julie to make sure everything was running smoothly. Because we have developed an effective system, it was not necessary for us to meet this week. We may have to set a meeting time for next week since the final draft will be due, so I will send out an email early this week to discuss that. The group dynamics are going good as well.
Reading Response for Ch. 24 & 25 - edavey
Posted April 13th, 2008 by edaveyThese readings specifically apply to the project we are currently working on because the chapters discuss ways to effectively contruct a creative and fitting piece of work. Content is much more appealing when words, images, color, data, graphs, and charts are properly used. Not only do these visual elements give readers a break from the sometimes over-whelming text, but they may also provide a clearer understanding of the subject at hand.
Project Log for Week 14: Project 3 Beginnings - edavey
Posted April 9th, 2008 by edaveyThis week '2008 in the Year' met on Tuesday at 2:30p.m. in the Union. We discussed distributing work and who would be meeting with Jane, our organzation's contact person, on Wednesday. Because of schedules, only Mike and Sara were able to go to the Center to gain more information for our project. Late this afternoon, Mike sent out emails discussing Jane's goals for us: 1. To educate people of all ages on exactly what the Lafayette Crisis Center is and does 2. To inform and attract people to become a volunteer at the Center and 3. To attract people to donate to the center.
Post on Project 3 & Both Readings - edavey
Posted April 3rd, 2008 by edaveyIn terms of Project 3, I have so far learned that my group will be helping the Lafayette Crisis Center by coming up with a creative Power Point for them to show at the Spring Concert in May. However, I am a bit confused as to if we are just revising their Power Point or if there will be a paper to go along with our service project. My question may get answered as the weeks go on, but I was just curious! In general, I am really excited about the service project and the organization my group will be helping out!
Project Log for Week 13: Project 3 - edavey
Posted April 3rd, 2008 by edaveyUp to this point, my new group and I have emailed back and forth about what to name ourselves. We have tentatively agreed on '2008 is the Year.' We have also gotten in contact with our client, informing her of our contact person, Sara, and how we plan to help the organization. We are working with The Lafayette Crisis Center and our point of contact there is Jane McCann, the Executive Director. We are creating a Power Point presentation to use at their events to display information about their services and volunteer opportunities.
Project Log for Week 12: White Paper Conclusion - edavey
Posted March 26th, 2008 by edaveyToday concludes the final draft of the white paper. After all the work put into it, I have to say I am extremely proud of the result. Each member dedicated quality effort and was always willing to do what it took to create the best possible document. We traded off duties and tried to incorporate our individual creativity and professional knowledge. Since the final draft consisted of essentially cutting our white paper in half, we decided to completely eliminate one section and cut down on the general knowledge on each remaining section.
Project Log for Week 11: White Paper First Draft
Posted March 23rd, 2008 by edaveyPEER Inc. brought all of our sections together this past week in order to form our white paper first draft. We met at on Tuesday at 8PM in Krannert to decide how everything was going to come together. We decided that our individual sections needed to be complete and sent to me by midnight on Wednesday. It was then my job to compile and format everyone's work into one paper, Paul was in charge of writing an introduction and conclusion, Betsy wrote the abstract, and Ryan proof read the document to make sure everything flowed and was in one common voice.
Project Log for Week 9: Research continues - edavey
Posted March 6th, 2008 by edaveyCurrently we are finishing up the research stage of Project 2. We each have a total of 8 sources, but as we begin the actual writing, we may still need to continue researching to ensure we are covering all the aspects intended. I contributed to the group by finding as much information as possible on email accessibility and the devices used for this wireless accessibility. The other members contributed by researching their sub-topics as well, which include applications, security, and hosting/hardware.
