Final Project Log- Team Gorgeous!

This week was hectic, as we were going back and forth trying to find fonts, get Mike and Kim to supply us with changes, ideas and suggestions, and then to actually go in and make those changes. They were typically little changes, but they required a lot of resizing and dimension changes as well. This throws off the whole document, as we saw when some text was cut off in the process of changing fonts. These kinds of design challenges come up all the time in this work, but it was intensified knowing that there would be a kind of review done on them by the client!

Project 3- Log 3- Team Gorgeous!

This week we did a lot of work! We met at the union on Monday night to really dig into our documents and begin planning exactly what content would be in them, their design, etc. We have two pamphlets for our non-profit organization, Hello Gorgeous!

Project 3- Log 2 Team Gorgeous!

We met this week on Monday for a second time to continue managing all the tasks that are due at the end of each week. It's something that could seem easier because we have everything due on one night, but really it takes a great deal of planning and teamwork to balance all the items that are due. This week, James wrote the instructor memo again, I wrote the Client research memo, Ryan composed the project proposal, and Kendra wrote the Client memo.

Reading Response- Chapters 24 and 25

Being a publishing major in Professional Writing, these readings definitely reminded me of several projects I have worked on. There were many pieces of advice in both chapters here which remind me a lot of "The Non-Designer's Design Book" by Robin Williams. Such advice was displayed especially in Chapter 25 with actual visual representations of what we are actually capable of doing with a document, and examples of how to implement the skills we have learned.

Project 3 Log 1- Team Gorgeous!

Our group met on AIM to begin thinking about Project 3 and how we will work as a group. We also discussed a meeting time, deciding upon Mondays as best for everyone in the afternoon. This was helpful because on the last project, our whole group never met to talk about work. We only communicated online, which was much more difficult. Meeting our whole Team Gorgeous at once was really helpful in communicating our concerns, questions, ideas and hopes for this project.

Reading Response/Project 3 Thoughts and Concerns

The Faber reading really did make sense to me, even though we were warned it might not!

Final Project Log

Our final draft has now been posted to the site. It's been really time-consuming for me personally because since I volunteered to put it all together, I had to spend a great deal of time and focus on getting the whole thing to look like and read like one cohesive document. It's hard to do that with any kind of paper with several different authors, even if it's only 4 of us. We all had a different sound and tone and so I tried to go through and take out anything unnecessary or too wordy that gives away that author.

Project Log 4

This week has been stressful, but I feel that our group's project is finally coming together. I am putting together the document, and have received two out of three sections that should be coming my way for our first draft. It's kind of difficult because I have written a white paper before, but never on such technologies, so I am working hard to really think about and process the content of what we are writing. I am thoroughly interested and enjoy my part of the paper on ShopText because I am half-convinced now that I actually want to subscribe and use it!

Project Log 3

This past week, we had the opportunity to meet in person at the union outside Starbucks. It was very hard to set up this meeting and not all of our group was able to attend, unfortunately. This has been difficult to get communicated accurately through email alone, let alone AIM. On AIM it's a matter of having set up a time prior to the actual getting online to chat. It's a bit frustrating because it's not something that I am accustomed to working within.
