Project Log for Week 16: Final Drafts
Posted April 24th, 2008 by mfjorgenThis week was pretty hectic with putting everything together. Our group chose to meet with our client and the students of Beacon Academy one more time to get the information that we needed for the articles in the newsletters. When we met with the students, they gave us a lot of good information to put in the newsletters. I really enjoyed meeting with them because we got to really see what this school was all about and how each student appreciates what they are learning. Our group also had a meeting online on Tuesday night to just basically talk about the plans for the week.
Project Log for Week 15: Revising Projects
Posted April 18th, 2008 by mfjorgenThis week our group focused on getting our first draft in for our Newsletters and then revising them with the tips that Julie gave us. We met online on Tuesday night to look over what we had done already and to make some small changes before sending it in to Julie. Also that night, we divided up the memos among our group members and made sure that everything was going to be taken care of for the week. We got some really useful feedback from Julie on Wednesday, so we decided to meet again on Wednesday night to make those changes.
Project Log for Week 14: Beginning of Project 3
Posted April 10th, 2008 by mfjorgenThis week has really gotten things started with Project 3. Our group met with our client Monday afternoon to talk about what we were going to be working on. We decided to work on two newsletters for Beacon Academy. One for the students parents and one for the community. The parent newsletter will focus on what the students and teachers have been working on and the community letter will be focusing on letting the community know what the students have been doing to help out, and to get other students interested. Our group is really excited to get started designing the newsletters.
Reading Response- Chapters 24 & 25
Posted April 8th, 2008 by mfjorgenChapter 24 gives some useful information about how visual images should be used in a paper or in context. The book explains that a visual image should not be used just for decorative purposes. It should be used to clarify information and make it easier for readers to understand the text that you are presenting. Another useful thing that we can use for our project is where the book explains how we should cite the sources that we find the images from.
Project Log for Week 13: Starting Project 3
Posted April 3rd, 2008 by mfjorgenThis week, we found out that our client was Deb Lukens from the Beacon Academy. We got in contact on Monday night with our client. We gave her our contact information and just basically asked her what we were going to be working on with this project. She emailed us back, and told us that she wanted to meet in person so that we can see the school and discuss what we will be working on. Our group discussed a little over email, but we decided to have a group meeting on Wednesday night at 7:00.
Reading Response: Project 3
Posted April 2nd, 2008 by mfjorgenProject 3 seems to already be a really interesting project. I like the fact that we get to work with real world clients on this project, because I feel like the work that we will be doing will be put to good use. I know that we have learned a lot of valuable information from projects 1 and 2, but there is never a better learning experience than working face to face with someone. Also, just getting to witness the professional aspect of this project is going to be very helpful when dealing with clients in the future.
Project Log for Week 12
Posted March 26th, 2008 by mfjorgenThis week was the busiest week so far with the white paper. My group and I met on Tuesday night at 9:30 to work on finishing the paper. One of the main things that we had to focus on doing was cutting down the word count. We read through the parts that we had already done and made some cuts on things that we felt were not as important. We caught some grammar mistakes while doing this. We also worked on the formatting of the paper. We included the bibliography and the table of contents because those were two important things that we left out in our first draft.
Project Log For Week 11: First Draft
Posted March 22nd, 2008 by mfjorgenThis week our group met on Wednesday night to talk about our project. Our meeting went really well. We made sure that everyone knew exactly what parts they were to cover and we also decided that Guatam was going to put the parts together this time and submit the first draft of our white paper. I think that we split up our paper very fairly and everyone did the same amount of work. We did run into a small problem yesterday, however, I believe that we handled it really well.
Project Log For Week 9: Reseach Takes Off
Posted March 6th, 2008 by mfjorgenThis week was a very productive week for our group. Since each of us had to post 8 sources this week, I feel that we have a great start on the research that we need for this project. Our group really focused on researching since that was due on Monday and Wednesday. We have not had a group meeting yet since we have done the research on our own. Now that we have all of these sources, we are going to have to have a group meeting to decide which ones are the most beneficial to our topic.
