Project Log for Week 16: Final Drafting
Posted April 25th, 2008 by Ryan111This week Team Gorgeous made our last revisions to the Donation and Nominations pamphlets. The client was very happy with our first submissions, and after a few formatting and contextual revisions we were able to make our final submission. It was a pleasure to work with Mike and Kim Becker as well as my other group members. I am confident that the work we accomplished will be useful to Hello Gorgeous!, and I am proud of our accomplishment. Congratulations everyone!
Project Log for Week 15: Document Drafting
Posted April 20th, 2008 by Ryan111Once again Team Gorgeous met on Monday at the PMU to make plans for the week. We divided completion of both pamphlets into teams of two: Amy and Kendra on the Nominations Pamphlet, James and I on the Donations pamphlet. We submitted this to Professor Barst on Tuesday. After completing a few revisions we submitted another revision to Hello Gorgeous!

Our team met once again on Monday to discuss and delegate assignments for the week. My assignment was to complete the draft and final proposal. Project requirements were successfully discussed and communicated with Hello Gorgeous!

Project Log for Week 13: First Contact
Posted April 6th, 2008 by Ryan111This week our team made some important steps in order to establish effective communication and accountability. After corresponding via email, we met over an instant messenger chat to establish a consistent time and place to meet in person as well as to agree upon our group name: Team Gorgeous. We settled upon Mondays at 2PM at the Purdue Memorial Union to hold weekly meetings. During our first meeting, we were able to agree on weekly assignment roles. So far everyone has been very open with ideas and voluntary with work assignments.
Reading Response - Service Learning
Posted April 6th, 2008 by Ryan111The Faber article has some very interesting insights into service learning. The analysis was detailed and thorough, yet well-spoken and easy to read. I liked the way that real-world stories of people were used to relate to the workings of organizations. Each person is an organization of their living cells in the same way that a business is an organization of people. Every organization is a collection of specialists working together for common goals.
Project Log for Week 12: Conclusion of White Paper Project
Posted March 26th, 2008 by Ryan111PEER Inc has now concluded the White Paper Project. After submitting peer reviews and reading those submitted for our paper, our group made our last revisions and will submit a final draft shortly. One of our largest tasks this week involved cutting our word count nearly in half in order to meet the project requirements. Had we began the paper with a shorter word-count in mind our topic and division development would certainly have been different, but we were able to take what we had and consolidate it into a more concise, finished product.

Project Log for Week 9: Divide and Conquer
Posted March 7th, 2008 by Ryan111This week PEER Inc. was focused on research. I believe the group requirement for 8 sources per person was good for motivating people to get down to work with their research. We have already learned a lot by compiling and summarizing these sources. It came to our attention that 150 words per summary for 8 sources meets the individual word requirements per person alone.
