Project Log for Week 16: Final Draft

This week has been a pretty stressful week. We finally heard back from our client which was good but she didn’t get back to us until Thursday night. It seemed like Jane liked our newsletter draft. The only suggestion we got from her was to change our title of the newsletter. So in addition to changing the title we also added a couple of more articles to the newsletter. Our group communicated this week by email, text messages, and phone calls. I submitted the final draft of our newsletter just moments ago. I had fun working with everyone in my group! Hope you all have a fantastic summer☺

Project Log for Week 15: Rough Draft

It seemed that we got a lot of work done this week. Our group met three times during the week. We all met Monday night to discuss what all we were going to put into our draft. Without hearing back from the Crisis Center Tom, Betsy, and myself decided to just go there on Tuesday afternoon. We got a previous newsletter and many brochures in order to have enough information to write some decent articles. Hilina had class all day so we met again Tuesday night to put the final touches on our newsletter. We all sent our parts to Betsy and she put the articles into the newsletter.

Reading Response Ch. 24 & 25

The first sentence in chapter 24 I think relates to our project. “Writers use visual content, such as photographs, illustrations, charts, graphs, and design elements, to inform and persuade readers, as well as to add visual interest to their documents.” This information will be helpful with our project in regard to working with the Lafayette Crisis Centers’ newsletter. One thing that you do not want is a newsletter that is strictly just text. For one this would just be plain boring and no one would want to read it, and it would also not attract people to come read it in the first place.

Project Log for Week 14: Trying to make progress

Our group was hoping that this week could have been more productive then it actually was but communication with Jane has been difficult. We did not hear back from her in regard to what we are actually doing with the newsletter. We were going to plan a face-to-face meeting but without the specifics if decided it would be best just to talk things out online. We met Monday night at 8 pm and Thursday around 4:30 pm. In these meetings we discussed upcoming deadlines and assigned certain tasks.

Project Log Week 13- Beginning of Project 3

I think our project has gotten of the a good start. We established Tom as out contact person for this project. We will be working with the Lafayette Crisis Center and we have been in contact with Jane Mcann. We met online and discussed what should be in our first email to the Lafayette Crisis Center. We later found out that we will be working on the community service newsletter. I think this is will be a very exciting project and I can’t wait to get into it. Our group hopes to meet sometime this week so we can decide where to go from here.

Reading Response Project 3

I think project three is going to be one of the most unique projects I have ever been assigned. This project I think will get us involved with our community. Even though this is a project and we get a grade for our work, I think this is still considered community service. In order for us to get a decent grade on this project we have to go out into the community, use effective communication skills, and execute our plan of action. While reading over Faber’s article I really didn’t see the connection at first.

Project Log for Week 12: Finishing the White Paper

The White Paper project is finally finished. This week was a probably one of the toughest weeks in regard to working with the paper. It was pretty difficult to cut down the paper a considerable because you write the paper with the intent that everything is important. Deciding what is essential is a very difficult task. Our last group meeting was last night Tuesday 25th. We all meet and discuss ways to improve our paper and what we would eliminate to meet the word count. We communicated with Gautam through a phone call during our meeting. This project I think has been very beneficial.

Project Log for Week 11: White Paper Draft

This week was the most important week of the project so far. Our group met in person on Wednesday night the 19th in the union. Since Gautam lives in Chicago, we communicated with him on AIM while the meeting was going on. I believe the meeting went very smoothly and we were able to get a lot of work done. The parts of the paper were split up and Gautam was in charge of compiling the parts into our draft. My part was the negative aspects and privacy issues and the conclusion. We did run into one problem while putting our paper together.

Project Log for Week 9: Researching/Gathering Sources

I think our group is heading in the right direction. With being required to do some research and post the findings on Monday March 3rd and Wednesday March 5th, we were able to find some great information in which we can use in our paper. I feel like we have tons of information because having five group members and each being required to find at least eight sources, we have around 40 sources. Everyone also put their own spin on the information they were able to find.
