Service learning project final blog

This was the last week to work on our final details for our service learning project. We did our presentation last Friday, so now we were just working on editing the brochure, the flyer, and work on the final report thats due this Friday. I think the final product turned out pretty nice. It looks attractive and contains all the necessary information to draw people into Cap n'Ginos. Hopefully, more people will be convinced to check it out now!

Service learning blog

This was our last week of working on the service learning project for us. We spent this week working out the final details for the project. We met with Rachael to discuss what we have been working on and she gave up a few pointers on improvement. Then we met as a group to edit the end details about what type of paper to print it on, whether to keep or switch the font, and whether to limit wording or add anything else on. We decided on using a hot pink paper background, easy to read font, and the least wording possible with hitting on the key points to inform the audience of the location.

This week we worked on coming up with a good brochure and flyer for our client. We talked to Barb and she's pretty open to new ideas and says we can use any of the information we need from the website. We had our conference with Rachael, so now we are just going to make the necessary changes on the promotional brochure and flyer and we'll work on making it more attractive.

This week I pretty much worked on coming up with ideas for the Service Learning Project, and have now decided to work with Cap n' Ginos to promote the place to Purdue Students. It is a great place to go to but not many people are aware that it exists. So we are going to let them know what it is and the services it has to offer. We turned in our memo today, so we'll see if it gets approval and then take the next step after that.

White paper update

So this week we worked on finishing up all our research on our topic and had to write a rough draft of the white paper. Our topic was about the Electoral College and how it needs to be altered. In the paper we go through what the Electoral College (and process), the history of it, pros/cons of it, better solutions to the problem, and examples of when Electoral College system has caused a candidate to lose the position. We met for a few hours, divided it up amongst ourselves, and then put it together. Wednesday we did peer review of other rough drafts of the white papers.

what is professional writing?

Professional writing can range from resumes, cover letters, memos, recommendation letters, to formal business letters. It is different from many other types of writings because it goes straight to the point. The point of professional writing is for people to share information in a simple manner. The writing is done in a formal language where in the beginning it addresses the audience it is targeted towards. Organizing it in an efficient manner is essential to making it worthwhile. It is meant to be really straightforward rather than adding minute details to embellish it.
