This blog is in response to Racheal's blog: Spikes. Racheal had a lot of good and interesting points in her blog that I would like to expand on. First of all, Racheal commented that people do not realize what Bengt has been through. I can apply this to the story as well as to everyday life. The members of Bengt's baseball team would laugh and make fun of him without knowing what he has been through. Whether it was for his huge baseball cleats, or his not so athletic figure. A prime example is on page 136 of Werewolves in their Youth, "This time his glasses fell off.

I found the story In the Black Mill to be very interesting and amusing. It was unlike any of the other stories in Werewolves in Their Youth because it was more of a mystery and a horror story. I could find myself relating to the characters in the story, which urged me to keep reading on. Also, the mystery in the story made me want to keep reading so that I could figure out the answers presented by the main characters by myself.

The short story Spikes was about a man named Kohn, his past realtionship, and his new relationship with his child neighbor. I thought the story was cute because although Kohn's son died at a very young age, he was placed in a position to somewhat be a father to his neighbor. Also, it was neat that although Kohn bought the new cleats for Bengt, Bengt's father in a way helped out because the two pennies were originally his. Now the cleats will have a special meaning to Bengt just like his uncle's cleats did.

My favorite musical instrument would have to be the guitar. I love hearing people play the guitar and I also enjoy singing along. I wish I knew how to play the guitar, but I do not have the patience. I took lessons for about two months in high school, but my teacher was weird. He would not teach me, instead he would just brag about the songs that he knew how to play. I wish I would have switched teachers and kept moving on with my goal. Now, I do not have the time to learn how to play, but I hope I will know how sometime in the future.

I am from Indianapolis, which is only about an hour and a half away from West Lafayette. It is very easy for me to make a trip home on the weekends because people are always offering me rides. If my friends lived in Indianapolis, I could see them very often. However, most of my friends have gone to different colleges far away, so it is hard for me to see them and I miss them a lot. I can not wait for spring break because I am going to make visits to the different colleges so that I can finally see my friends that I have not seen since Christmas break.

This is the most stressful week I have had so far this semester. I have had 2 exams and a lot of projects due. However, I have just looked at my exam schedule on ssinfo and found out that I only have two final exams!! How are everyone else's final exam schedules looking?

I can not believe that classes were not cancelled today. All of the surrounding schools have been closed down for the day, and I think Purdue should have been too. I had to walk to class at 9:30 this morning and I was miserable. Also, I have been sick since Monday and walking in the cold does not help. I hope we get at least one snow day this semester.
