Potential Communications, Scott Dennis, 04/07/08, PriscillaA0301
As I had stated before, my project will be on the Small Animal Emergency and the lack of communication and consistency when we process clients/patients. Here is a list of potential steps for the communication problems.
1. Write up a memo to the office manager and DVMs stating the problem that is currently occurring at the hospital. I will also list and explain any potential solutions to the problem and suggest different training sessions. I will also want to propose a standard operating procedure/manual.
2. Write up a standard operating procedure for owners and pets coming in to the clinic. I will have a step-by-step "cookbook" and a list of things that new, unexperienced eyes should look out for that are considered emergencies.
3. I would also like to propose a schedule for meetings and training to better improve our staff with emergency situations and boost confidence in our team.
4. The last would be to create a suggestion box. This can allow employees to express their feelings about the job and to write down any concerns, frustrations, what's working and what isn't.
The above list will hopefully improve the communication gap we currently have with experienced Vet Technicians, with our receptionists, assistants, and new employees. I would also like to think that this can also lead to an open-communication atmosphere where people can confidently change their environment and create a better team atmosphere.
