Organization Choice, Rebecca Longster, 4/2/08

The organization that I am choosing is the restaurant that I work in called ‘Nakama.’ It is a very small, privately owned traditional Japanese restaurant on the outskirts of campus. It is only open 6 days a week in the evenings, and only has 5 total employees. Due to its size the communication in the business is simple and effective. But the communication with customers and in its advertising is limited and is what I would like to work on improving. The largest communication problem we have with customers is our menu. Most people have not really heard of the restaurant, and therefore do not know what type of food we serve. I think it would be a good idea to set up a website, with the menu items, giving descriptions of the restaurant itself and the food we serve. This would allow customers to get familiar with the restaurant style and understand a little more about the Japanese culture that is intertwined in the cuisine.
