Attached is my week 16 posting report. Thank you.

Communication Solutions Final Draft, Rebecca Longster, 4/21/08, KrystleK0101

Included is the URL of the website I created to help improve communication between managers and staff at the Blue Gate Restaurant where I am currently employed. This would be a password-protected website that only employees would have access to. Also, due to privacy purposes I was unable to post personal information of the current employees, but the template that will be used can be viewed. The managers agreed to show the website to the company's website coordinator to see about incorporating my version into the original that is currently available.

Communication Solutions Rough Draft, Rebecca Longster, 4/16/08, KrystleK0101

Attached is a VERY rough draft of a website I designed that may help my restaurant attain better communication between their servers and managers. This is my first time ever trying to attempt to make a website, so if you are experienced with making them, PLEASE give me any suggestions you may have! Thank you in advance.

Project Plan Memo Rough Draft, Rebecca Longster, 4/9/08, KrystleK0101

Attached is the rough draft of my memo for the communications project. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.

Potential Communciations, Rebecca Longster, 4/7/08, KrystleK0101

The following are a sample of possible strategies to help improve communication between the managers and employees at the Blue Gate Restaurant where I currently waitress:

1)Give everyone an employee contact list that would include names, phone numbers, email addresses, normally available work times, as well as addresses of employees since many of our employees are Amish and do not have phones.

2)Develop a regular schedule so that employees are working roughly the same days each week. This would prevent having to rearrange other previously scheduled activities on a weekly basis.

Organization Choice, Rebecca Longster, 4/2/08, KrystleK0101

The organization I chose is the Blue Gate Restaurant which is a part of Riegsecker Marketplace in Shipshewana, Indiana. I have been a waitress here for the past five years, and there are several communication gaps that need to be addressed. The main communication issue is between the employees and the managers with scheduling. Scheduling is always put off until the last minute and employees are working different shifts, days, and hours week to week. At times, the schedule is up less than a week in advance so it's hard to plan your other weekly activities around your work schedule.

Potential Organizations List, Rebecca Longster, 3/31/08, KrystleK0101

I am a part of several organizations where communication could be greatly improved. The following is a list of a few of them:
*Undergraduate Advisory Group: A student based organization that meets with the staff of the Biological Department to help develop a better, more efficient science curriculum. It has been shown that communication between students and professors as well as communication between professors and the overseers of the curriculum have much room for improvement to develop a system that is the most benefical for both staff and students.

Research and Work Log 3, Rebecca Longster, 3/21/08, KrystleK0101

This week I finalized my sections for the White Paper rough draft. These included the historical background of NCAA infractions in the past as well as describing Solution 3 in our white paper which was that if a university chooses to fire a coach on suspicion of NCAA or university regulations, they will be protected from wrongful termination suits provided that the coach ends up being found guilty by the NCAA or other sanctioning body. For the Peer Review, I completed Section 3 which was an analysis of the body text for Group 6's white paper.

Research/ Work (b)log, Rebecca Longster, 3/7/08, KrystleK0101

This week was both productive and busy for our group. We first worked together on completing our Purpose-Audience Statement for Monday. We divided the work up into four parts where I was responsible for the Exigency portion. On Tuesday, our group met in person for the first time to work on the outline. Originally we were going to meet just to discuss how it would be best to divide it up and when we were going to submit our rough drafts to eachother, but then we decided that because it is so difficultto coordinate our schedules to meet the way it is, we might as well just do the outline now.
