Job Description Title: Grant and Promotional Writer
Details: Full time / Part time (at least 20 hours / week).
Compensation: Commensurate with skills and experience
Position Overview
The Cooperative for Education (CoEd) is a Cincinnati-based non-profit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in Guatemala through education. CoEd specializes in implementing self-sustaining textbook, library, computer lab, and teacher training programs in Guatemala.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work for an innovative, dynamic and rapidly growing organization, and to help make a difference in the lives of many impoverished children. Potential opportunity to travel to Guatemala (not required).
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
• Writing grants and funding proposals.
• Researching funding partners and opportunities.
• Writing annual appeals and press releases.
• Communicating with media outlets and donors through written materials (letters, newsletters, e-mails, etc.).
• Writing progress reports for foundations and other funders.
• Managing relationships with foundations and donors.
• Copywriting for brochures, informational pamphlets, project descriptions, website.
• Managing and updating company marketing materials and creating a branding strategy.
• Providing high-end administrative support to the Executive Director.
Skills/Experience Required:
The successful candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, and have a strong work ethic. This person will also possess:
• A graduate degree or equivalent experience (in fields such as Business and Promotional Writing preferred).
• A strong portfolio of previous writing projects demonstrating proficiency in business and promotional writing.
• An outgoing personality, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently on projects.
• Innovation, creativity and self-motivation. The ideal candidate will come to us with new ideas for moving the organization forward and take ownership of his / her projects.
• Desktop publishing and webpage design background skills (a plus).
• Proficiency in Spanish (a plus).
