PW Club Minutes 8-30-06 (0fficer Meeting)

Hi Everyone,

I don't know how to attach word documents to the blogs (or if I even can), so I'll put the minutes below in bold text. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at 812.631.2530 (my cell phone) or through my e-mail at sknies@purdue.edu. The following minutes are from an officer meeting held on August 30, 2006.

Thanks!

Signing members who have paid onto PW Talk at the callout, so that they can immediately begin to receive announcements about the club
Updating the website with news, description of the club and the major, contact information, a message board, meeting dates/times/locations
Developing a meeting to create something for this website
Printing off a newsletter, possibly incorporated into the website
Asking Sarah or Joey to write an article about the club (i.e. a speaker that presented at a meeting)
Making sure that it is known when a speaker is going to present so that people come to the meeting
Speakers will not be at every meeting
There will be a question/answer format to the meetings when a speaker is invited
The speakers could present late afternoon, possibly in the 320 lounge
Possibly have pens, pencils, key chains, post-its, t-shirts, etc printed to hand out to prospective and returning members as a way to remember our club
Possible idea for the t-shirt design: website of the club on the back with a dictionary entry of “professional writers’ club (or the major) on the front
Working on more projects as a club
No Panic-O-Rama (agreed that it was a failure)
End of the year celebration instead
Hosting a social between the graduate students and the undergraduates
Would provide networking opportunities for the undergraduates
Would enable the undergraduates to understand what graduate students actually do
Hosting technical workshops on computer programs
