Co-Founder of Wikipedia and Lead at Digital Universe to Speak at Purdue

Larry Sanger, one of the cofounders of the popular website Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.com), will be doing an open presentation on Purdue University¹s West Lafayette campus on Tuesday, March 28, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Horticulture Building room 117.

Sanger first proposed merging the new concept of a wiki with an encyclopedia, which led directly to the creation of the now-famous Wikipedia. Sanger managed the website in its first year, and was responsible for many of the policies and decisions that made the website a success.
Sanger is the Director of Distributed Content Programs at ManyOne Networks in Scotts Valley, California. He is also chair of the Board of Stewards of the Digital Universe Foundation, as well as one of the key organizers of Digital Universe projects.

Sanger is being hosted at Purdue by the Department of Communication.

Sanger received his B.A. in philosophy from Reed College in 1991 and Ph.D.
in philosophy from Ohio State University in 2000. His doctoral thesis was titled "Epistemic Circularity: An Essay on the Problem of Meta-Justification."
