Internships in Professional Writing

Professional Writing majors at Purdue University have the opportunity to take an internship course, English 488, during their junior or senior years. Students receive between 3-6 credits for the course while they intern with a local company, nonprofit agency, or university division. Interns generally work between 8 to 10 hours per week during the semester. For more information,, see "Internships: Frequently Asked Questions for Students."

We are always looking for new partnerships with organizations willing to sponsor our interns. We seek organizations that will help our students learn what it means to work in a professional environment, help them to apply their burgeoning knowledge to practical tasks, and expose them to new communicative tasks. In short, we look for organizations that recognize that our interns are still students and that internships are learning experiences. For more information about sponsoring an internship, see "Frequently Asked Questions for Internship Sponsors."
