April 5, 1999: Initial discussion of curriculum revision by English Department’s Introductory Writing Committee

December 13, 1999: Formal proposal submitted to English Department Head and SLA Dean

February 23, 2000: Proposal reviewed and approved by English Department faculty

March 1, 2000: Curriculum revision discussed at Course Availability Committee (copies of proposal circulated to committee members prior to meeting)

March 7, 2000: Initial review of proposal by School of Liberal Arts Curriculum Committee

March 2000: Consultations with curriculum committees and deans in various Purdue Schools

March 31, 2000: Approval by School of Liberal Arts Educational Policy Committee

April 4, 2000Approval by School of Liberal Arts Curriculum Committee

October 16, 2001: Initial Review by School of Liberal Arts Senate

December 2001: Approval by SLA Senate

January 29, 2002: Memo circulated to Head Academic Advisors and Chairs of Undergraduate Curriculum Committee of Purdue Schools describing the changes in the First-Year Composition curriculum

October 1, 2002: Plans for English 106 enrollment presented and discussed at Course Availability Committee meeting

February 24, 2003: Plans for evaluating and distributing transfer credit presented to Head Advisors

February  27, 2003: Curriculum Deputies and Schedule Deputies notified of English 106 Reservations for Fall 2003

March 6, 2003: Presentation to PACADA

May 16 and 17, 2003: Orientation for Teaching Assistants and Lecturers assigned to teach English 106 in Fall 2003

June 16- August 8, 2003: Initial offering of English 106--one section during Modules 2 & 3 (8-week session) taught by Professor Shirley Rose, Director of Composition

August 18-22, 2003: Department of English Orientation for New Teaching Assistants (all will be assigned to teach English 106)

August 25, 2003 (Fall 2003): Classes begin--140 sections of English 106 offered.
