Pep's Final Project Log

My website is at: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~mpepper

The Flash game is located at: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~mpepper/rhetorike.html

My Second Life/PW building is on the Purdue land in SL. It should be growing over break and I may eventually be pestering you all to put stuff in the digital showcase room.

Pep's Big Project Log Wrap Up Extravaganze

Finally, after blood, sweat, tears and coding, I've finished my vid game. Well, "finished" is such an odd little word. Let's say it is completly workable start to finish, fully animated, and fully sound effected. It's showcase ready for tomorrow and running on my website.

There are still some things I will likely tweak and play with throughout the week. I really need to play with the stats and the code that effects the battle probabilities. This is very tricky stuff for an english major kinda guy like myself.

Rhetor Battle Deck Online

Almost forgot: here's a webpage with all my battle cards in one place. http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~mpepper/cards

Pep's Week 15 Big Project Log

Hope everyone had a good break. I used the time to catch up on this damn big project. Pretty big redesign to the rhetor battle game (again). I kinda gave up on the notion of making it super-fun. The statistical actionscript programming was proving a nightmare. I've now settled on bringing the educational aspect of the game to the forefront (probably should have done that in the first place).

I added a character select screen so you can now technically go "fight" whomever you want. However, there is a preferred order that you have to figure out.

Pep's Week 12 Project Logs with Small Project Wrap-Ups

Pep's Second Life Purdue Island Creations
Hurray, hurray! This is the sound of small projects being done and turned in.

Second Life: I’ve included a snapshot of my sign for the professional writing section of the island. In the background of the photo you can see my building. The building is actually going to be wiped as soon as Dave grades, because the whole thing was a learning process and I have a much better design in mind for the future. I think I’m keeping the sign though, I dig it.

The Purdue island is actually shaping up quite nicely all around!

Still in progress. Just want to add date and location eventually.

Pep's Big and Small Project Log: Entering Week Eleven!

Big Project: I spent most of this last week trying to get my small projects on their way (and hopefully done very soon) so I can spend the rest of the semester working on the video game. That said, the instructions are now done. Knowing there will be a game-testing session in class tomorrow really helped motivate me to get that done! Beyond that, everything is pretty much in place. There’s a title screen, instructions, one full round (versus that evil Hugh Blair), and ending screens for won or lost battles.

Pep's Week Nine Big and Small Project Log

Big Project: No progress here; frankly, I needed a little break on it. But the game is pretty far along, so I'm not too worried.

Small Project (Website): I've got my new home page done and will start filling in the rest of the pages this week. I'm pretty pleased with it; at least, I'm more pleased with it than some of the site's previous incarnations.

Small Project (Second Life): The most work this week was done on building in Second Life on the Purdue Island.
