One of the ways to integrate MovieMaker into the classroom is to have them open the program on their own, insert a single song and some pictures, save it, and bring it to class. Then you can go through some of them, talk about the images used, when they appear in the chosen song (are there pictures of water when the song talks about the ocean?) and make a class movie. Then converse about the rhetorical effectiveness.
Not very innovative, but potentially fun and interesting.

Also, another assignment
Also, another assignment I've worked on in the past, though not yet here, is to have a digital class conducted entirely over IM. I'm not sure if there's a digital classroom function in drupal or not, but there's got to be a way to negotiate it. Regardless, you could conduct a class on computing over computers, then afterwards you can print out the transcript and go over it with your students. How do interactions change between in-class discussion and internet discussion? How does our language change? Tone? Attitude? Attention? And of course these questions center the experience on the classroom, but it allows you to open up the classroom itself for critique, as well as the digital format.
