Hey all,
I don't know if anyone is still active on the board or not (or if you have already begun ignoring your email for the holiday) but I finally finished my project yesterday. Peps seemed interested, and its the first thing that has really emerged on the web with my name attached to it that I feel positive ownership of... so I though, what they hey?! Post that mofo. Here you all are.... if I can find the web address...
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~mreitmey/bookofshadows

Thanks for an excellent semester all,

Peace,

Before the semester officially ended, I wanted to get in a few final observations. Be forewarned: they’re pretty random.

Creating a video game≈playing a video game

Sarah Robbins and Second Life

Hey all. Since I am one of the first time visit only statistics in SL, I've been messaging with Sarah Robbins on Facebook about scheduling a meet up time in SL to wander around together. Sarah suggested that many of us could congregate in SL after the holiday at a scheduled time. Any interested parties and date/time suggestions?

Yeeeeesss...I love technology

...always and forever.

For this project, I have learned several new technologies: survey software (Qualtrics), GarageBand, iShowu, and iMovie.

I must say, I am quite proud of myself.

For the full song, check out the following link.

Hey everyone!

I would like to invite you to take my survey. We can discuss the results--and, more importantly, what they mean--during Friday's showcase!

Party like a Rock Star

We've talked this semester about Guitar Hero, but I wanted to add another, similar game to the list: Rock Star. I had never even heard of the game, but a few days ago, I had the beautiful opportunity to witness it in action. For those of you who aren't familiar, it's actually pretty similar to Guitar Hero, but it's a multiple-player game; one person sings, another plays guitar, and a third person plays the drums (I think there can also be a bass player for a total of four people playing the game at once).

The xbox has a play timer?

Apparently there is a new feature on the xbox that limits a child's (or whoever is playing it) play time. After seeing how much we played Legend of Zelda and Mario Brothers on the 8-bit, my mother implemented a new house rule requiring us to read an equivalent amount of time to our game play. That rule lasted for a few months, but it is an interesting point about perspectives on the "worth" of gaming v. more traditionally accepted forms of intellectual development.

Flash Based Guitar Hero: Mucho Addictive

Here's a totally passable, Flash based verision of Guitar Hero so you can get your fix if you don't happen to be near the Playstation, X-box, Wii of your choice.

http://www.kongregate.com/games/Shinki/super-crazy-guitar-maniac-deluxe-...

It's played with the arrow keys and A, S, D. The songs are from complete unknowns due to copyright issues, but they're not completely horrible. It does make the game harder though, cause knowing the song well helps you get into the rhythmn.
