Juliette mentioned to me last week that Yahoo News posted information about Nintendo sending out free "jackets" for Wiimotes. My sister just sent me the link (lazy me just waited for more information): http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/jacket/jacketrequest.jsp
Apparently, Nintendo are including jackets with all Wiimotes from now on. Maybe too many Wiimotes went through televisions or people who got injured...Part of me is thrilled to see how empowered the consumer can be within online spaces. People who have/recognize similar problems can put up a website, such as http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/, to discuss issues and potential collective action. On the other hand, I worry about the people who will take advantage; the people who will file unreasonable follow-up lawsuits to take advantage, as seen in the "McDonald's hot coffee", (the case did forward some reasonable claims)
Like these guys, sometimes I find the whole thing rather amusing

I meant to post about this a bit back. I ordered mine as soon as I saw the announcement hit blogs (they're still not here though). This seems to be another liability reducer for Nintendo (at least in terms of their ethos because I don't see them being legally liable for the kid who gets knocked unconscious because his alpha mom swings the Wii-mote a little too hard while playing Wii Tennis). I just order it all because I see it as more Wii bling!
