Right now I am SCREEEEEEAMing at the computer because I can't get drupal to change my photo on here but this medium only allows me to type words into the box and not to record the rage of Viking blood bellowing through the centuries. Ok, that might be a bit extreme...
Shall I make this moment to talk about new media? Does "our" "definition" of "new media" tend to "always" default to The Visual? Will writing become obsolete if computers turn to voice recognition/command only?
So the picture thingy? Seems like I can either be happy with the first one I posted (I'm not) or be happy with none (I'm not). And all I wanted to do was procrastinate from writing my prospectus....sheesh.

Age Old Questions
Your question about our definition of new media is an important one and quickly becoming more so. And it also calls into question our definition of the term literacy, particularly whether a person is more literate because s/he can recall or because s/he can locate certain information.
Keep hope, though, because eventually you'll be able to command your computer to fix that image all by itself!
