Sarah Robbins and Second Life

Hey all. Since I am one of the first time visit only statistics in SL, I've been messaging with Sarah Robbins on Facebook about scheduling a meet up time in SL to wander around together. Sarah suggested that many of us could congregate in SL after the holiday at a scheduled time. Any interested parties and date/time suggestions?

Wii-Hab? revisited

Hey there was an interesting article on Wii-Hab that my student made me aware of. Thought people might be interested. Smiling

The xbox has a play timer?

Apparently there is a new feature on the xbox that limits a child's (or whoever is playing it) play time. After seeing how much we played Legend of Zelda and Mario Brothers on the 8-bit, my mother implemented a new house rule requiring us to read an equivalent amount of time to our game play. That rule lasted for a few months, but it is an interesting point about perspectives on the "worth" of gaming v. more traditionally accepted forms of intellectual development.

Blue Eyed post revisited by a Hazel Eyed girl

A while back Lars posted something that caught my attention (okay, just to clarify, Lars, many of your post are interesting to me) that I want to prioritize again. Why? Because I know that we are all incredibly busy and (well, at least in my case) we might have decided we wanted to read it, but didn't get to it until later (like today).

she's up!

After Juliette's incredible post I feel a little guilty posting my news...that said...I am really proud of myself and hope to inspire others to keep on trying even though technology may be a pain in the ....well, you know.

EUREKA!

This morning as I was waking from my Nyquil-filled sleep, i had an ephiphany (at least I think I did) about my project. I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for talking with me about it-it got my brain running and now I have more than I can chew, but storyboards here I come! We'll see if it "pans" out. Eye-wink

causal gaming and sex

I saw this really quick blurb on game pro about "causal gamers and it got me thinking about how we define "casual gamers," or how casual gamers define (or don't define) themselves. I find myself wondering about the "shame" of gaming, or taking on a "gamer" label.

For example, my mother refuses to call herself a gamer, but she plays minesweeper, Myst, spider solitaire, and various other games on a regular basis. When I asked her about the discrepancy, she said, "you're right, but I'm not serious about it [playing games]."

Robbery/Abduction in WoW Space

A close friend of mine recently found out that his WoW account had been hacked. Someone gained access to his account, took all his characters' (9 or so of them) items, money, gear (including all the clothes his characters were wearing), etc. and sold them on the auction house or transferred them to his "best" (highest level and favorite) character, his hunter. The hacker then proceeded to pay ($20) to transfer his hunter to another server.

Wiimotes need "jackets"

Juliette mentioned to me last week that Yahoo News posted information about Nintendo sending out free "jackets" for Wiimotes. My sister just sent me the link (lazy me just waited for more information): http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/jacket/jacketrequest.jsp
