Another good article from the BBC

Here's another good article from the BBC.

Not only does it discuss the inevitable spread of viruses on Macs it raises the issue of the need for media literacy....

Cyberspace Theives need to go to Wiihab

Here's 2 things of interest.

First is an article from the BBC about a Dutch teenager (and some other yahoos) who was arrested recently for taking the five-fingered discount on items belonging to other folks in cyberspace, specifically from Habbo Hotel. Pay for your movies and leave the towels, please.

And here's a video you must watch (if you haven't already) that is a send-up of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab." This one is called Wiihab. Ha.

Play Games to Win Rice for Hungry People? So says BBCnews.

Today on BBC news, I read an article about a word game that donates rice to the United Nations World Food Program when you play (and "win"). It's touted as "learn vocab while feeding people." For ever word definition you get correct the site donates 10 grains of rice and you can earn as much as you want/can. It's supported by advertising but a creation of Poverty.com and also has ties to the One Campaign .

O hai Im in ur blog postun bout lolcats.

So instead of grading papers or doing my dishes or saving the world...and since Wendy is too busy playing WoW to talk to me on the phone, I've been seeing what's new on the Internet today. There's lots of stuff out there, People, you should go!

Anyway, as I often do I was checking out I Can Has Cheez Burger, which is a very funny site should you be into the silly captions of animals caught on film. In looking around the site I came across a short

Mac Games Sites

Here are some links to the places I've been getting my games for Mac.

Azada is fun coz it has different kinds of puzzle games to solve which collectively "beat" the game. It's free to try but 20 bucks for the full version. I don't remember where I got it but it comes from Big Fish.

This site has freeware. I've played Frozen Bubble. Typical aim & shoot kinda thing.

2 thoughts that crossed my mind on the way to class

First, what ever happened to Terrence Trent D'Arby?

Second, do things like "attack" applications on Facebook (Zombies, Vampires, Super Poke) count as games? Do they count as new media/electronic games?

Go See Some Art

Purdue has 2 art galleries that are easy to get to (besides the ones ALL the way over in the art & design building). One's in Stewart near what I hear is a "library." I haven't been to this "library," but the gallery space is nice. The other gallery is in the Union on the upper floor near the entrance on Grant.

Right now the gallery in the Stewart Gallery is an exhibition called "Dried· Cracked· Wet· Dripping· Blooming
Installations by Charles A. Gick." This features some digital art and mixed media stuff. New Media anyone?

A Reminder of the Need to Study this Stuff...

This post has nothing to do with the reading or the project due this week. Instead, I need to pass along something that happened to me last Friday.

Shameless Plug For My Personal Interests

Since there's been talk of blogs being self-indulgent AND the theme of music has come up, I'm taking this blog moment to write about a current obsession of mine. No, Wendy, I don't mean "looking for creative ways to get thrown out of the program." That was last semester's obsession.
