Some teachers may prefer to have students use forums for posting content instead of blogs. Just as with blog posts, teachers can choose to promote selected student posts to the home page (to promote any post to the home page, edit it and select the "promoted to front page" checkbox).
To enable forums:
- Turn on the forums module in adminster >> modules.
- Visit the main forums page to see if the forums are available. A link to this page should now appear in the main navigation menu.
- Modify the provided sample forums or create new ones in administer >> forums.
- Add in descriptions to appear with the forum areas on the main forums page by editing the forums on administer >> forums (for an example of forum descriptions, see the Drupal forums).
To disable blogs
- Turn off the module in adminster >> modules.
To make the course home page the main forums page
- Go to administer >> settings.
- In " Default front page" change "node" to "forum.
- Save your changes as the bottom of the page.
Note: If you have made your site private by enabling the front_page module, you will need to make the change for the home page in administer >> front_page instead.
