We had two companies that we were looking into working with. Our group backed off our original idea because we felt it might become too much work (being that the company was very inexperienced) and even might end up costing money. After choosing that we were going to work with Don McClean and the Sunrise Diner, we have been working towards how we will help his business. We currently have many ideas but need to choose the most effective ones.

I only had a couple of ideas for the project. I thought about contacting both the Columbian Park Zoo and the Wolf Park. Both seem like they could use some help in the departement of web design and advertisement.

After considering which route I wanted to take for the Client-Based project, I chose to help out something linked to education. This is an institution within our country that is in need of volunteers and additional funding. By offering my help, I will be able to collaborate with a representative and help them to communicate their wants and needs to the community. With quality assistance from volunteers and unpaid workers the education system may be able to get back on its feet. I am not sure what specific groups or entities within the local school corporation that I would like to benefit.

For the client based project, I decided to look around the Lafayette and West Lafayette community area and look for businesses and non-profit organizations that may benefit from the services that we can provide. For this, I came across 'Natalie's Second Chance' which is 'no-kill' dog shelter that is located at the 5 road intersection in Lafayette near downtown (off Main Street). Having raised two dogs at home and volunteered at the shelter at home, I understand some of the physical and financial constraints that shelters face on a day-to-day basis.

I am in favor of helping promote non-profit organizations. These organizations do not always have the time or budget to work on high quality public documents. One specific organization that I would like to promote awareness of is the Teen Crisis Line. This is a hotline that teens can call and ask for help with any problems they may be facing. I have worked in the past with the Teen Crisis Line and the workers and directors are very helpful. The love any help they can get in promoting their service and would appreciate our help.

After reading the project description for the client-based project and understanding the concepts and requirements for the project I have come to realize that I would like to do this project over non-for-profit organizations. I would focus on the topic of getting non-for-profit organizations around the Lafayette and West Lafayette community involved in getting Greek fraternities and sororities to participate and volunteer their time, talent, and money to these organizations.

I am not sure how good of an idea this is, but in Purdue, there exists a branch of a worldwide organization called SIFE (Students In Free Entrepreneurship). What they try to do is help small enterprises develop and reach maturity making profits.
This organization needs a lot of public documents, which is why I thought of them in the first place. They are in need of more support with both money and volunteers.

When we were originally presented this project I didn’t even know where I want to start looking at companies. I am usually very indecisive and it takes me awhile to think of anything. Originally I thought it would be a good experience to work with Huth Thompson an accounting firm in Lafayette. I learned a lot about this company when preparing for the job fair earlier this semester, and it would be easy to think of ideas for them. However as I thought of it more, I figured it would be a better idea to work with companies around West Lafayette that cater to Purdue University students.

When I was first introduced to the Client base project I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do because there are so many possibilities. I started to think about it and decided to I wanted to do something that would help the community. I did a quick search on Google to see if there were soup kitchen’s around West Lafayette and I came across quite a few. Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner I thought that making fliers and pamphlets for soup kitchens around the area would be a fun and rewarding project. St. Ann’s church in Lafayette has a soup kitchen.
