Ghigliazza- 022- Work Blog #5

The beginning of this week was a bit hectic after Thanksgiving break. On Sunday our group contacted each other to figure out when a meeting would be necessary to make the rough draft. We procrastinated a bit by putting it together on Monday for the meeting with Mr. Baker on Tuesday at 9 am. Unfortunately, I arrived back to West Lafayette late on Monday night so Alex, Ryan and Kenny put the brochure wonderfully together without me during that day. On Sunday night, I sent a word document to Alex, Ryan and Kenny filled with pictures and ideas I had for the brochure.

Throughout this week our group created our brochure in a rough draft form. We have contacted Brenda Lorenz, our client, and have looked into the community resources and options so that we may be able to reach as many people as possible. We have learned that we still need to finalize our video portion of the project and will edit this in the DLC of Hicks this weekend. For the most part, we have a confident approach to the project and in the direction that we need to pursue for the rest of the project.

This week our group meet with Mr. Baker in order to present our final deliverable. We made a one sheet flyer that had a 10% discount. Most of my responsibilities were doing the design of the project. Brandon and I also met with the owner to insure that he was happy with the design. The next goal for our group is to start working on the video project. We plan on meeting with Don sometime next week in order to complete this section of the project.

My group and I had a great week. We met on Monday night once everyone was back from break and created the rough draft of our final deliverable. Also we contacted our client and negotiated a price to be used on our advertisement. On Tuesday we met with Mr. Baker to discuss our rough draft and get some insight and revision. Overall he did not suggest any major modifications, but yet some minor critiques that could help our final product. After our meeting with Mr. Baker we reserved a camera to be used at the DLC. The interview will take place sometime early next week (dead week).

This week was thanksgiving, we met as a group only once. Initially, I started the brochure putting a little bit of information, but then the whole group met and we added pictures and the rest of the information that still needed to be added.
I think our group did a great job, and the document came out really good. Everybody has been working hard on this project and I believe that it is showing.
We met on Tuesday with Mr. Baker and went over the document, besides a few minor changes he said it was pretty good.

This week our group had to meet on Monday after Thanksgiving to make sure everything was in order for our meeting with Mr. Baker on Tuesday. Jacob did a great job starting the brochure over Thanksgiving Break. The only thing we needed to do was add pictures, and a little bit of information. The pictures we added were either taken by us or were gotten off the website. When we met with Mr. Baker on Tuesday he made a few suggestions for our brochure, but ultimately said it was pretty good. On Thursday we had an in class work day, and made the few changes necessary.

This week was very productive for our group. Upon returning from Thanksgiving break, we met to begin creating the drafts of our deliverables. We determined that the email template our client requested would consist mostly of an employee signature that we would create and the company logo. Initially we planned for the logo to be a watermark, but after our conference, we all agreed that it would look better, and would be easier to translate to the company’s email database, if the logo was simply at the bottom of the email near the signature. The template was easily created in Microsoft Word.

This week for our group was somewhat busy for us. Over Thanksgiving break, Jacob had offered to start working on our brochure for The Boys and Girls Club. We had then planned on having a meeting on the Monday back to school. Since I had no class on Monday, I had stayed at home that day and left Monday afternoon for school. I had run into a lot of traffic and had been late to the meeting and just went straight to Hicks when I got to Purdue. Jacob had to leave for work by the time I had gotten there so Jessie, Joe and I had worked on the brochure.

My group and I met on Monday to create rough drafts of our three deliverables as well as begin planning for the video interview. We used InDesgin to create the flyer and the newspaper advertisement but used Microsoft Word to create the email template. Not having spoke with our client about the deliverables (as in what he would like) we developed our own information to make the rough drafts as complete as possible yet easy to late change with actual information. After creating the drafts we converted the files to a PDF format so as to be easily viewed from any computer.

Our group accomplished many of our goals this week. To start, Ryan and I created the rough draft form of our deliverable. We decided to make a three-fold pamphlet that advertised the Morton Community Center's Mor'Danc'n Program. After feedback from Mr. Baker, our group revised the form and added more color and contrast to it. Kenny agreed to help with some of the graphic glitches that plagued our original, and by the end of class on Thursday; we had a formidable working draft.
