Hatfield Elements of E-Mail 021

I completely agree with this article and talk show about how to send proper emails. I enjoyed the beginning message when they mention giving more information and specific information in an email. When an email is written and the point is clear in the email, then the amount of emails that go back and forth will be much less. I agree with the importance of expressing your tone in an email as well. When things are read through email rather than being expressed in person, the point of the email can be taken a different way than it was intended to.

Koenig Email Section 022

I personally liked the reading and the radio show because it gives tips about things like how to convey tone in an email or even why to write. My favorite thing in the reading are the seven reasons to use telephone instead of emailing because I generally dislike using the computer as a form of communicating when I don't have to. I think facebook is keeping people from seeing the sun rise and the leaves fall.

Johnson Elements of E-Mail 021

The article and radio show’s view on e-mail and the lack of tone often associated with the tool are absolutely correct. Misinterpretation on the attitude that the sender is conveying can be a very common occurrence. E-mailing somebody using the appropriate tone, while at the same time getting the message across in a professional manner, can almost be considered art. It is something that takes practice, but even high-level employees struggle at this. For example, an older friend of mine was planning a business trip to Pittsburgh for himself, a coworker, and their boss.

The authors, David Shipley and Will Schwalbe provide a good insight into modern communication and the trends in email communication.

Walters Elements of E-Mail Style 022

I found this article very interesting and extremely revealing in our day to day world. E-mail is described in these terms by the article and audio in ways that no one chooses to think about or notice even as much as we all use this form of communication. Misinterpretation of one's words and thoughts through e-mail can lead to more dramatic results and often misleading the recipient of the e-mail in ways that normal voice to voice communication would exclude such factors.
