Greetings from the Land of the Midnight Sun

You know they aren't joking about the midnight sun thing here in Alaska. They held the 4th of July fireworks at midnight because that was the darkest part of the day and it was dusky and not dark at all! It's freaky to wake up at different times of the night trying to figure out if it's time to get up because it's broad friggin' daylight outside! Yes, we do have room darkening drapes, but the sun does still peek in. Gonna spend part of the day today working on workshop stuff before going out to play. Also trying to avoid bear which we've heard think it's great fun to walk into the downtown area. Damn! I thought I'd avoid the bear if I stayed away from the wilderness type areas!! More later!
