It's Game Time!

Tomorrow I leave for Madison, WI to do the GLS Conference. I am looking forward to it, but at the same time am nervous about presenting at a conference that is not (for the first time for me) almost exclusively for educators. There are gonna be lots of folks from the industry there. As I look through the program I am shocked (am I really??) by the lack of people of color (at least from the photos posted). At least at the Rhet and/or Comp conferences there is usually a small body of African American or queer folk (or at least folks I know!). That won't be the case for me this time. I'm the only person that I know personally that's going to this conference. And ya'll know that I've never been accused of playing well with others,

In the meantime I suppose that I should be going over my paper at least one last time. I am presenting a version of the piece that I am working on for a collection that looks at rhetorical representations of race through the eyes of teens. The material is absolutely fascinating (if I do have to say so myself). Wish me luck!!!

BTW I paid the extra 20 bucks for wireless connectivity so I should be blogging the conference. I will also be taking the PSP and the DS just in case. I can't be the only kid without toys can I???

update: Soon I may be able to take porn with me as well. And you thought that the last "P" was for portable?? A loophole in Sony's agreement gives them approval over games for the PSP, but not for movie UMDs. Sony is not happy with the upcoming sales on UMD porn. Opps, their bad!
